so you're saying, reconing is easy with a kit to guide me through the process, but rather if i just get the cone i will run into some complications as a beginner?

I've read about people reconing subs themselves. I think this would be quite a hand skill to acquire. I have a blown dd512 and am wondering should i attempt to recone it myself or should i leave it to the pros? And if i do it myself should i buy a 512 recone or something aftermarket?
