No USB though.

A parametric EQ allows you to adjust the frquencies and width of boost/cut. I think you'd be happy with either one, or the Kenwood 991 (for enhanced USB functionality).

T/A can only be done digitally as far as I know, but with a HU with TA, and analog-in it can be done. Yes we're talking about D-A-D-A, but what I'm saying is that all that conversion given the quality of the DAC's wouldn't be noticable in the quietest car going down the road with the best...

But that can still be handled in the HU. I'm sure better DAC's process 'better', but I sincerely doubt that if you listened to an iPod over a digital connection in a car, then played it again over an analog connection (all else being equal) you probably wouldn't hear a difference.

I believe the reason for that is because Apple doesn't allow protected iTunes tracks to be played over the digital connection. HU's with analog iPod inputs get around that. Also I'm sure the DAC in an iPod easily out classes any means of reproducing music in a car anyway.

Excluding the Kenwoods on both counts.

You can make the ground wire larger than the power wire, but that makes no sense. I have a few things to ground, so I ran 8g to a seat bolt under the carpet. My factory harness has a tiny wire.

There are several USB HU's out there with mixed success. The best so far seem to be Pioneer and Kenwood. But for ultimate control over digital files (plus DVD, GPS, TV,...) go with a CarPC (MP3Car.com).

Look over at TalkAudio. It's slow, and the screen isn't helpful.

It's good to see better USB support. But to me it's still not 'there' with playlist/drive/software issues, small screens, no selection by tag... etc. I never thought I'd do this, but I'm starting to put together a CarPC instead of waiting for the high-end Kenwood after reading over at...
