ya, equalizers with more bands allow more control to equal out (equalize) the frequencies

now in response to your question... lol, from my experiences i hear it is good to leave 3" inbeetween the back of the subwoofer to the box, and since the depth (not the total depth, that adds that front mounting and surrond) is 10.5 inches, i'd say 13.5 inches inbeetween the mounting wall, and...
