Speakers seem to "dim" or go "flat"?

You are clipping most likely. You've got the gain turned up too high on the amplifier, and/or too much signal coming from the HU/crossover or whatever - to the amp. Hard to see without an oscilloscope, but try just turning the amp gain knob down a quarter turn.

    Help A Newb Out!

Might you have any carpentry skills? It's completely feasible to build your own box and put your own speakers in it. You end up much cheaper in the end for a bit of work. Best Buy is likely the most expensive place to buy something like this. http://www.sonicelectronix.com is very reasonable...

Hard time with 2004 PT Cruiser

Hi all, I'm trying to install Boston Acoustics SX65 in the doors of my 2004 PT cruiser. It seems the door hole is just too big! I did have Pioneer TS-D161R's in there. THe trick to installing those was to use the "fork" style mounting tabs - the screw holding it was at the very edge of the...

How many OLD SCHOOL audio fanatics are on this forum? What do I mean by"oldschool"?

My dad had one of those 999-II's in 1990ish. Helping with that install was how I cut my teeth in car audio. His got ripped off a year later in Miami.
