If you have a ten disc changer and no cd player. Does the cd player have to be the brand of the 10 disc changer to work?

I have a alpine r 12 set up in an alpine box really nice. Right now I have a piece of crap amp hooked up to it but hits hard. Im buying a new amp and wondering what would be good for this sub. Dual coil sub. I know i can get more out of this sub. Thanks
