    2003 Mazda 6s Build Log!

So did those PGs fit without any mods? Looks like you put the tweets in the door, but would they have worked in the pillars?

Sweet, didn't know that's what it did.

    Question about phasing

My Alpine 9830 has the following option for subwoofers: I notice that with it set to reverse (180 degrees), and the sub firing into the back of the car (towards the trunk), it sounds much better (louder). With it set to normal, I can barely hear the sub. I am moving to a new car, a Mazda6, and...

Ph RSDs or keep my polk dx3055

Not entirely related, but have you found the RSDs in stock somewhere for 90~? The Audiosavings place no longer has them, or are at least temporarily out of stock.

    Gain Setting Tutorial

Well, I've read up on why to do it, and the tradeoffs, I just wasn't sure of the proper way to do it.

    Gain Setting Tutorial

Still a little confused on this new method of setting gains. Would you just use a -6 (or -3, -10, etc) db test tone, and set the gains normally, like you would with a 0db test tone? For example, 4ohm x 100w = 20v with a -6db test tone instead of 20v with a 0db test tone?

    Running more than maximum wattage

You'd have to define extended play, but even then, they are in the doors Hard to tell when they are mounted. You are talking about the voice coil or magnet, correct?

    Running more than maximum wattage

Is it safe, even when it's common for people to do so? Take the '04 Alpine Type-R sub: people regularly recommend going 100-200w above the stated maximum (300w to 400\500w) because it's known the sub can handle it. But how about for other speakers? I just picked up some Diamond Audio m361i's...

    Shady Onlinecarstereo stuff :(

From my end? Not really. A simple call to my credit card company would get my money back, and it would be up to Onlinecarstereo to send someone to pick up the speakers or not. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they offered to pay for shipping without being threatened, but this shouldn't have...

    Shady Onlinecarstereo stuff :(

I should be happy that they created a hassle for me? While I'm glad they are sending a UPS truck to pick it up, if I had to pay to ship it back myself, I'd just do a chargeback and keep the speakers until they paid for shipping, anyway. Good intentions or not, they are silly for substituting a 6...

    Shady Onlinecarstereo stuff :(

I wasn't too worried about them being "authorized" or not, at least with their 1 year warranty. A lot of people use them to buy their stuff, and I rarely, if ever, heard of problems with them. I could see not being authorized when buying from some random guy on eBay who sells them for 1\3rd of...

    Shady Onlinecarstereo stuff :(

That is when the words "Chargeback" come to mind. Onlinecarstereo is fairly popular, so I would never expect something like that from them. And yes, I'm sure there are a billion+1 ways to make them fit, but that isn't the point. They swapped products on me without even telling me, let alone...

    Shady Onlinecarstereo stuff :(

I have no idea who lspimp is, but I take it that's not a good thing? Someone explain :o And how can I make them fit? I've tried using the general purpose speaker adapter, and that surely didn't work.

    Shady Onlinecarstereo stuff :(

After a lot of debating I picked up http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=12436 from Onlinecarstereo. I had the option of picking them up from ebay for a little bit less (10-15 bucks) but decided Onlinecarstereo's 1 year warranty was worth it, and that you never...
