Running the spudger along the back bottom of the faceplate will eventually unlock the faceplate from the mechanism... Retention clips / ramps are circled (poorly, a recurring theme here)...

Note what happens to sides of faceplate, including what we thought was a locked-in pin... Pin location circled, as well as spring arm that will need to be re-inserted into proper place on side... [Edit: note that screws have been removed per edited directions in previous steps. Spunding will...

Hmmmm......Spudger was indeed the key. Insert Spudger into orifices at top back of faceplate, pry a tad to achieve separation....
