If you're simply going to keep it on your desk, then I agree. However, if it's a drive that you're going to be taking with you occasionally (or often) then I think it's worth the extra cost... and how about the fact that it doesn't require an ac adapter like ALL 3.5" external drives do - meaning...

It's normally 3 years but if Simpletech requires a receipt for warranty work, you're out of luck since it won't come with one.
