How to Determine what I Fried?

they are 4 ohm subs, DVC. I wired each channel directly instead of wiring it as a bridged connection (which is how it was before). It smelled like burning plastic/rubber. So i turned the gain way down, thought i was smelling the new speaker wire that i had put in, and drove for about 5 minutes...

How to Determine what I Fried?

I'm pretty sure i fried my subs having them improperly wired. My buddy is coming over with his multimeter and we're gonna try to figure out exactly what's dead. What should i test? What would healthy readings look like for the various components (amp, speaker wire, connection on sub)?

Rewired Subs and Now i Smell Burning

Well it's certainly not the update i wanted to post. I rewired it as shown in that diagram and replaced the fuses and i'm getting no sound from the subs. The amp is indicating its outputting a signal. I'm guessing I fried the subs. I'm gonna hope i just shorted out the speaker wire with the way...

Rewired Subs and Now i Smell Burning

I would have to do a lot of reading to gain the knowledge on how to remove the cap myself. I'm not looking to put any more money into the system, however i do have a couple of big, bad *** deep cycle wheel chair batteries lying around but i have no idea how to wire that up

Rewired Subs and Now i Smell Burning

Also i need to do the big 3. I have a friend who can probably help me with that. Also the morons who originally installed the system (a shop) connected the power cap to the 4 channel amp powering the front?!?

Rewired Subs and Now i Smell Burning

Yeah man, i f&$&ed this up. I'm going to rewire it to the amp how it was previously, then replace the fuses and turn the gain real low. Hopefully i didn't brick my subs, amp, or both. I'm too **** old to be doing idiotic **** like this

Rewired Subs and Now i Smell Burning

No wait, that image isn't accurate. I really should have paid more attention before i disconnected the leads from the amp. It's a two channel amp, and only one connection on each channel was used. No interconnection between the leads on the subs (unless there's something goin on in the box...

Rewired Subs and Now i Smell Burning

Ok guys, i might be retarded. I'm pretty sure this is how it WAS wired: And like i said, when i rewired the subs i just did simple +:+, -:- across both channels. Is this my problem?

    Hello from Albuquerque

Came here to find some help with a problem with my amp/subs. Everyone's been real nice, appreciate it.

Rewired Subs and Now i Smell Burning

I'd certainly be down for someone who knows what they're doing to take a look at it. Didn't realize people meet up from this forum. That's pretty cool. Seems like a good community here. By testing each wire, do you mean with a multimeter?

Rewired Subs and Now i Smell Burning

Honestly, i don't have the skills to pull all the wiring. A shop here in Albuquerque did it at a car dealership's expense, and all the power wiring is under the carpet.

Rewired Subs and Now i Smell Burning

I don't really know what to do. I haven't replaced the fuses on the amp yet, but i guess i'll try putting it back to bridged and hope my car doesn't start on fire and/or i pass out from poisonous fumes.
