    I have never had a problem charging with it all connected, but if you're worried I would say just unhook the ground.

    Galactic thanks for the thoughts. Looking back voltage may have been the problem; it's my best guess. Already ordered the recone, and will be tracking the sub carefully. No more demos for a long time.

    Stainless isn't the best conductor, but it works. Can be achallenge to find something else

    Cone never got hot and never had coil rub either.

    Good question. It smelled once when I went up in bettery power, but that went away in time, like it had to get used to it or something. The only other time is when in blew obviously.

    First reasonable answer so far, thanks. Any suggestions on how to prevent it, besides getting rid of the x or not playing music?
