Thank you. I’ll make pods for the doors. Next question, My back doors have no speakers. The rears are in the rear pillars. My front doors have 2 each. All kicker but the new speakers are Polk. Should I put 2 in each back door or 1 in each door?

So I already have 4 6x9s and 4 5x7s in my doors and rear cab corners. My sub box is a center console. I picked up 4 6.5s, wondering if it would sound good if they are built onto the sub box firing towards the doors? Or should I just try to put them in the doors?

Also, the alt is grounded to battery and cab. You can see the cables at the rear left mounting bolt.

Not sure why I didn’t get notifications to this thread. Anyway, that harness is exactly how I received it and the directions said to hook that wire to alt charge post. 🤷‍♂️ I guess it’s a voltage sensing wire. The problem with my install was on a 6.0 Powerstroke, the alternator to battery cable...

Thank you! The alternator is working great now. I reconnected the old alt cable to both battery and alternator. Seeing 14.5-14.8v at idle and no smoke.👍 Will a mod please change the title to Noob installs Mechman= smoke show 😁

Thanks for the response! I suppose I should’ve specified the vehicle too. This is a 2006 6.0 F250. I got some generic instructions. But from my Powerstroke forum, another member said The old alternator cable and the glow plug power cable join together with a fuse link, near the battery end...

Thanks for all the replies, everyone. I ended up with the 370a Mechman. Showtime ftw. I just installed the alt and got a smoke show. Melted a wire when I turned the key. I don’t suppose anyone has an idea what the problem is?

Well I ordered an oscope. Should be here today. And this beautiful beast showed up today. I’m gonna have to redo my battery and ground terminals, I used 1/2” rings when I needed 3/8”. Wondering if it would be worth it to double up on wiring to my batteries and grounds? It’s already 1/0 welding...

Mechman seems like the only option out of all those brands. Dc power makes one and a couple other brands. Think I’m settled on Mechman. 👍

Thanks. I’m looking at a 320a or 370a Mechman. I only want to do this once but would I be just as good with a 320a? I think this system will be pretty permanent for me. That adds 190a for my 2200 watts.
