That you didn’t even understand what I was saying speaks volumes.

Using “To error is human” as the example, you should have provided a context that would indicate you were trying to be humorous or even ironic.

The misuse of “error” instead of “err” is too likely. No one will just read it and say “he’s being ironic”, unless you provide the context to show your intent.

No, I won't tell you to do that. He and I were having a back and forth and I said it that way to point out something to him. It missed the mark by a mile but the word error was used specifically for him, on purpose. His response proved my point.

You didn't know the saying kid and you can't admit it. If you did then you would've said, "to error (err) is human." Admit your mistake and move on. Just like extremest.
