ok so....... I have a DC lvl 4 XL, brand new fully rebuilt PR1000.1 amp, JL 4300A amp for my components, aftermarket cranking battery, kinetik 800 in the trunk, no voltage drop issues, good wiring and grounds. My memphis amp sometimes-(pretty frequently) goes into protect mode when sub is playing at high volume. I have no voltage drops below like 12.8v even at high volume, full tilt, loud/low/long bass. My amp isn't over heating either.

all my voice coils look good on the multimeter but is it possible that one or both of the voice coils could be reaching a short when at high volume and/or high x-axis movement? If so, how could I diagnose this and what can/could I do about it? DC should cover something like this correct?

thanks in advance

I'd bet your clipping the amp and it goes into protect. I have no clue if that amp has this feature or not, but that would be my first guess. What is your gain set at (1/2, 3/4, all the way up?). Only other thing I could think it to be is a loose connection somewhere that touches the +/- and sends the amp into protect. Check all your connections and make sure they are secure.

Good luck,

Larson
