Do you happen to have a video?
I won't lie...if you want something that looks sexy sql-15's probably ain't it...they look fairly generic...
If you want something that gets loud in a small space...they're very nice

DC does give a a sealed box recommendation for Lvl 4 and down, I haven't modeled it yet however. I'm not necessarily married to DC either. Yes your description does word it best, I am looking to brute force as much cone area as I can without a wall. I'm still experimenting to see if I can stuff 2 15's ported as well.I don't believe anything in the DC lineup is really fit for running sealed alignment.
IF you're just looking to cram as much cone area into as small airspace as possible you can brute force reasonably loud with pretty much anything. Do what you like.
Sealed seems to be a rarity for what I'm asking, understandably. Not many people play the 18" game when tight on space. I may also play with the idea of a single ported 18" as well. You should be able to go to You Tube and the like to view quite a few Vids on 18" subs???? Stepping up would be ideal for a single sub game changer??
Looks are nice, but the only time you see them would be the seats down. I will check them out!I won't lie...if you want something that looks sexy sql-15's probably ain't it...they look fairly generic...

Hello, I'm getting back into car audio after a hiatus. I'm looking to do a build in my MK5 Jetta. An idea I'm toying with is 2 18's sealed in the trunk. I should be able to just squeeze in enough space for subs forward. This idea originally started as 2 18" in an IB set up but being a basshead at heart I'm worried the IB set up won't live up to what I want.
I know the simple answer is a set of 12's in 3-4 cu ft between 32-35hz, but I'd like to step outside of the box a little bit. Im just short on room to fit 2 15's and a 8" aero port facing subs forward/port forward, so this is my last ditch effort to make large cone subs work in my application.
Hoping to see some videos of 2 18"s sealed or 2 15"s sealed. Suv, truck, hatch, trunk, I'd like to see them all! Thanks in advance.
Geeze, 2 18’s in a Jetta trunk? That’s like Ron Jeremy in a 16 year old, probably not gonna to fit!
The last thing any car guy wants his vehicle called is the p word...Lol, comments like that are the reason my jetta no longer has back seats and looks like this:

It will fit, you just have to make a little room here and there...

I had to be practical in one vehicle, I've earned a play vehicle! At least that's what I told the wife. The last thing any car guy wants his vehicle called is the p word...
Practical vehicles are boring.
I think I can make about 7cu ft work in the MK5, I have to make a cardboard mock up to see if it will slide in or if it would have to be built in trunk.I'm a bass head through and through. I have a MK4 jetta with a single 18 I currently. In the works is a new baffle to run a pair of 18's IB while I sort out finances and can finish the final enclosure for the back seat area.
With the proper drivers, infinite baffle will be plenty of output. If you really enjoy the "peak" around 35hz that alot of ported boxes have, then you may feel like you are missing something. But infinite baffle and sealed are virtually the same type of enclosure. Airspace is the big difference. Not many 18's perform super well in less than 2 cubes, and the ones that do are usually rather pricey.

Lol, the jetta is too small to haul the family on vacations so I bought a sorrento. No reason to keep the jetta practical anymore.I had to be practical in one vehicle, I've earned a play vehicle! At least that's what I told the wife.
Depending on the driver and how much power you have available 7 cubes could work fine. My enclosure will be about 14 cubes after displacements, but my subs are really weird and I'm going for a very low-end oriented substage.I think I can make about 7cu ft work in the MK5, I have to make a cardboard mock up to see if it will slide in or if it would have to be built in trunk.
