To MTX 9500 sub owners

Do you believe everything you read on the internet?
NO, but the manual for this amp that I bought says that the amp is 98% effecient. Why would mmats say that if it wasn't true. Mmats is known for making the best competition amps. I don't care what people may say about other comp. amps. Mmats I gaurantee will destroy them.

Probably the same reason that Ford says you can get THIS amount of gas milage, but you NEVER, EVER, get that amount of gas milage.

People say anything to make money.

You should stop talking, please.

I bet you know so much **** about car audio. You have not said one intelligent thing on this thread so keep your ******** to yourself. I wanted reviews on the 9500s, not smart remarks from ducshbags like yourself.

Intelligent enough to know how to spell 'douche bag'

And yes, I happen to be a pretty well qualified installer.

Then why not give your opinion on the sub instead of harrassing me. ****

Have you ever seen anyone port through the deck lid in a trunk car to maximize spl. Or have you seen anyone install subs in their deck lid. Your opinion would be nice without being a prick. Thanks

Yes, to both.

And I have done both in personal vehicles.

Although my reasoning wasn't for SPL.

And the only harassment you get is because you seem like an idiot when you make derogitory comments like, well, most of the posts in this thread.

FYI, the subs in the decklid... that's called infinite baffle.

The 9500's are nice subs. Do I think they're worth the asking price? No. Do I think they're the best thing since sliced bread? No. Would I use them in my vehicle? No.

There.

I dont want to get too much off topic but you can measure the amp's efficiency.

MMATS is good, but far from the best, and no amp is 98% efficient except for the Rockford 15000 which is a completely different animal. And I dont remember seeing anyone with MMATS amps at the last 3 World Finals I have been to.

Jest play a test tone at full volume. Test your DC voltage drop and current draw at the DC power input. Note those measurements (you have noted 262A @ 13.8V) Then do the same measurements on the AC output side of the amp. Use your clamp on ammeter on the speaker wire, then measure AC voltage output. This will tell you your real wattage output.

Also, those subs are good, again, far from the best. But they look great and beefy and perform outstanding.

What was your reasoning. Did it make your subs louder. I was looking into doing this but if it is not going to give me at least a 2DB gain in my 08 G6 than I don't want to do it. I thought an infinite baffle was placing the subs in the deck lid without enclosing them. If I did it they would be enlosed with ports.

You didn't mention building an enclosure around them when saying mounted in the decklid.

And you are correct.

I did it mainly to keep trunk rattle to a minimum.

Here in New England, at least where I am located, there is quite of few people with the Mmats amplifier because of their efficiency. I called Mmats audio, and talked to a engineer and they said they range from 90% to 98%. My paticular amp is their best amplifier as far as effieciency. It just requires alot of power. To run this amp properly they told me that I need between 200 amps to 250 amps. Since your into SPL, I have been trying to get a good solid answer on building a certain few types of boxes in my 08 G6. It is a trunk car with hard back seats. Right now I am only hitting 146.0. My goal was 149.5+. Abviously way off. I wanted to either build a bandpass box and have the ports firing into the deck lid. With this I would be integrating the deck lid with the box. Or, anther option was building a sealed box by using the deck lid as the baffle board, and put some ports in the deck lid so they were firing into the rear windshield. Do you think either of these would give me any DB gain. If so, how much. I was told by someone who has done this, that they saw a good 4 DB gain. This car it was done by also had Plastic Hard Back Seats.

That was one of my issues with my car is my trunk is ratting so bad right now it is honestly bouncing a good half of inch. So bad that we sprayed windex it bubled and leaked through. I was hoping this type of box would eliminate most of that and make the spl in the cabin of the car louder. Do they even sell subs that can be put in an infinite baffle. I thought that was popular back in the eighties.

You my friend, are dumb. Almost every statement you have said is in some way wrong. Thanks and GTFO!

Which subs would you recommend that sounds good getting hit with about 1500 watts RMS. Give or take a few. What do you think of JBL W12 GTi MKII's. I have two of these that I bought originally. The guy at the audio shop I deal with swore bu them. I had a small problem with them, the cone seperated from the basket. I think that was from Best Buy removing them from the box I put them in. I think that they caught the rubber surrounding of the woofer with a screw causing a small tear that just quickly got worse. They sounded that ****, abviously with air leaking. Hopefully they sound better when the guy I bought them from tunes and installs them.

What was so wrong about what I said. How many subs do you know you can mount like a component speaker. They would sound like ****.

You can wire those subs up @8 ohms if they are both SVC4 ohm subs, and that amp will run fine after being tuned properly...

That would be a function of the harness, not the HU, I think. Have you looked into a Maestro or iData interface? i would check with crutchfield...
