I picked up a couple of ID subs from a guy at work. He claims they are SPL's they are 15'' subs with a double stacked motor and a stamped basket. The claim i dont trust is that the were built for 2200rms a coil, i saw quad coils which were even more rare and then the dvc most said would handle 1100rms since what tiny amount of info i could find suggested the use of the IDQ specs for enclosure design ive chosen a bandpass. this will be a blow through in my 06 nissan frontier, I think im settled on 4 sealed 8 ported, tuned to 45 with 2 10'' sonotube ports, i might be able to get away with 8's if i can do my own flares.

Any serious suggestions are welcome. i did not list an amp because i dont know what these things will handle but i have an AP30001d sitting around.

and go. hows this look? thinkin some 3/4 plexi in the access panel and all thread for bracing, what size all thread is suggested i was thinking 1/2" would be plenty if i use neoprene and regular fender washers.

scratched the round ports as then i have to cut multiple holes and cant find 10" pvc for a reasonable price

anyone come to this site anymore?
Not many with technical knowledge anymore. I don't know much about bandpass enclosures man, but I say just build it and post a build log. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/santa.gif.e1ec9cf2e0a0dd232ad35aa594a126d0.gif

I need to know if this looks like a decent design, the bracing i plan to do is all thread and mdf what size all thread should be big enough? Does this look like it will work well, or should i try to change the design entirely?

If they really are ID SPLs (very rare subs) then yes they're similar to an IDQ. They're not exactly a 4th order friendly sub from what I can see of the TS parameters. And if you put that AP3k on it with all kinds of distorted power they'll go up in smoke.

where are you getting specs from? the ones i have seen from ID's site for the idq suggest it wouldnt be a bad sealed sub, meaning it should do well in a 4th order.

putting the pair in just under 4 cubes sealed after bracing and adding poly-fill to that with the motors facing out to the ported chamber that will be right around 8 after its port bracing and subs. the access panel is kinda funky but was thinking 36x12 3/4 plexi with a 3/4 inch piece of mdf as a mounting surface on either side. that would give me some room to replace subs if need be.

the ap3k has been doing its thing in my truck for a few yrs, about 4 if that matters. I have only used it at 4 ohms, but at that ive seen all the claims and believe it was close to the 2k claims. i wont say its high sq but it does a decent job and was cheaper than anything else when i got it.
