Sirius line out distortion

Hi everyone,

I have a Blaupunkt Monte Carlo with its aux in section connected to a Sirius car dock with a Sportster 5. I have no problems with alternator whine, ticks, pops, or that stuff. The problem I have is that when I push the male 1/8" plug into the "line out" of the dock all the way in, the sound from the Sportster sounds all out of phase and highly "digitized" I'd guess you'd call it. If I back the plug out a tiny bit, that all goes away and the sound is clear, but there is no stereo separation, everything sounds mono. I am using a stereo male 1/8 plug to female rca cable, the rca's plugging into the Blaupunkt's male aux in rca's. I've switched my car dock for my home dock and the line out does the same weird digitizing effect also, when the 1/8 jack is fully inserted. In my home the line out to my stereo system sounds fine with good stereo separation. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have a Sirius problem on your hands (sorry, couldn't resist)

It might be a dirty contact for one of the two pins inside the aux jack. I would try to get a little rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and swish it around inside. Key is not to over-saturate the q-tip though or that's going to run inside the circuitry.

sounds like the stereo is causing problems with the aux cable. If you can take you home dock into the car, have problems, then take it into the house using the same aux output from the dock and have no problems then that leads me to believe that it is the deck. Try hooking your phone up the the aux in and see what you get for sound from you phone.

I will try the phone idea. Meanwhile, I backed out one of the rca plugs just so the grounding collars weren't touching and the middle hot plug was still inserted and the digitizing, out of phase sound cleared up. I do suspect something has gone wrong with the aux input. Since the head unit is from 2005, it might be time just to get a new one. The '05 vintage Blaupunkt's aux rca based input is dated and I have no problem getting a new head end that has a front panel aux input. That way I could use just one 1/8 inch male on each end cable and get rid of those inferior rca's.

Im pretty sure that is a Delphi Sirus plug in./Din connector. You may need to contact GM or better Yet, Sirus, and see if they can help you out. I...

The correct answer is yes, you want both left and right so you get low end information from both channels. It is very common for recording...
