what i find works exelent for doing molding is use a poly-urathane 2-part foam to construct a mold of the dash, the stuff works awsome for creating what ever shape you need or want then do your fiberglass on top of it. Its maybe a little extra work but you'll love the results.

How exotic do you want to make it. I find the easiest way is to

1. Cover the original piece completley with masking tape.

2. Coat the the masking tape with car wax. This is to make it easy to get the piece seperated from the original.

3. Cut fiberglass mat into 3-4 inch wide strips.

4. Coat the mat in fiberglass resin anp apply a layer at a time over the masking tape until you have the whole surface covered. Don't worry about excess hanging over the edges. You can trim the piece later.

5. Once the glass has dried completley scuff the surface up with some low grit sandpaper.

6. Put on another layer of mat as described before.

7. Once this is dry you can pull the two pieces apart. And bling!bling! you got a copy of the panel you can modify to your hearts content

If you feel it's not strong enough you can apply more mat to strengthen the piece.

Hope that helps. Any questions just post em and I'll try my best to answer them
