Right now I have a 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 with the OEM bose setup. The sound is OK for me, just lacking on the low end.

I'd like to upgrade the door speakers and possibly the tweeters (not necessary). Is it even worth upgrading the speakers or should I do a AMP/and component setup? I'm just looking for a little more on the low end. It's pretty lacking/distorted. I'm guessing the Factory amp is crap too... but if I can get away with doing some better quality speakers I'm down.

I refuse to do a AMP/Sub because I really do not want to add weight to the car. Plus I use my hatch area quite a bit.

Thanks in advance.

Would you be willing to go with a 8" speaker + amp under your seat in a tiny enclosure with some lightweight wood like birch? Or do you wanna add speakers to your doors?

I wouldn't mind doing woofers in my doors, but it would be a direct replacement. Under the drivers seat is where the amp is located. I'm pretty sure the front door speakers are woofers. I have tweets in the door (a-frame/mirror) area.

Unsure what the rear doors are, I have 2 speakers in the rear hatch area too, and a sub in the spare tire well.

Is the sub in your spare tire factory or you added it in? What size woofer is it? What kind of amp do you have?

Its a factory bose amp/sub combo

I just found the inside pics of that thing.. Looks like it's not gonna do anything for the low end. Do you have room to fit a 8" sub stealth mode in the corner? Or would you be willing to to take out your spare tire and put a sub enclosure in there? That would be the best way to get more low end and still be able to use your hatch area.
