I was adjusting my BASS EQ on my Alpine mrp-1000 and have been trying to tweak it to where I feel it is balanced. I set it a hair before dead center and it is like 100% HARDER BASS. Just like a light came on or I added another speaker. I move the Bass EQ up a tad more and it goes back to kinda flat so I move it ONE LITTLE notch back to the spot and BAM!!!!! Why is it like daylight and dark. Now the bass feels like it is punching me in the back. WHAT DID I DO?

You are most likely boosting a frequency. Most bass boost is practically a one band eq for your sub. Be careful to not boost too much, if any. You may damage your sub.

A little bass boost in ported setups can be a benefit, but you must realize that with every 1/4 turn of the bass boost knob you are sending roughly 1/2 of the amp's rated power on top of what it is set to. So if your amp is rated at and set to push 1000rms at 2 ohms, then you set your bass boost at 1/4, your amp could be sending as much as 1500rms to your sub(s) at that frequency range.

I believe this to be true, but I'm not 100% sure. Basically, be careful with the bass boost/ frequency boost.

I put in dixie chicks and they have the tight punchy drum line through most songs and before it was a more like a small boom and now it is really tight and is like someone kicking my seat. The strange thing is I moved the nob from 11oclock to just before 12oc. That is how little.
