i am about to hook up a jl audio (12 inch) in my girlfriends 96 ford escort and i am about to get a amp. is there a webtie that i could go to to get instructions on how to do it?
if you are buying a new amp it should have several diagrams for installing and hooking up your sub. if that don't work, hollar back here. someone will help.
If your going to connect a amp first you need to know if the radio you are using has preout (those are the rca jacks on the back of the radio ),If thats all set you will need to start with a amp wiring kit for what your using one with 8ga. power wire ground wire remote turn-on wire in-line fuse about 25-30 amps and one pair of rca cables. You want to start by mapping out a location to put the amp and sercure it properly (If you put the amp in the trunk just be careful you don't puncture the gas tank or line).Once thats done Start by running the power cable directly to the battery but don't connect it yet, put the in-line fuse in the middle of the of the cable between the battery and amp(put the fuse as close to the battery as possible).Next you what to run the remote turn-on lead connecting it either to the remote turn-on wire on the radio if it does'nt have one you will connect it to the wire on the radio which only recieves power when the key to the car is turned to the on position. Now you need to connect the rca cable from the radio to the amp plugging the white side to the left and the red side to the right.(It's important that you run these cables on the oppisite side from the power cables if not you might experience engine noise)Now ground the amp to body of the car (usually just pull the carpet in the trunk back a l;ittle take a piece of sand paper and sand a little area to the shiney metal is showing. After all those connections are done then you can connect the red power cable to the battery. ENJOY THE BASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
