IF/when i put a stereo into my cobalt, i'm thinking of keeping th stock unit and running an LOC to the sub amp. but if my amp has high level inputs i could just use that.

only thing is if i do use the high level inputs, could i wire the amp in parallel with the speaker's wire and still run those speakers, or will i need to disconnect the speakers?

also are they any advantages/disadvantage useing high level inputs over LOC's for this application?

you can still use the speakers.

The input impedance of a speaker to line converter is WAY higher than a 4 ohm speaker. Your HU will barely be effected by it.

so what's the downside of using hi-level inputs? More specifically, I'm probably going to have to tap into the rear speakers with a hi-low converter, as the amp I have only has inputs for RCAs. Am I going to see a loss in signal quality or strength?

Figured the question was still on-topic; don't mean to hijack anyone's thread...

You are clipping at the HU, and as stated.. will eventually damage the HU if continued. sounds like you need a little more power as stated. A 2 ch...
