I Own a 1991 GMC sonoma and i was pondering on a cut threw enclosure, how to mount it, how to seal it, how will it sound

and is it best to go sealed, or ported/slot ported what ever the case i just wanted to get some info

my current set up is one 12'' pioneer priemer flat sub in a single box with an american bass 800 sq but i need some more basss and i want to show it off a little bit when i bag it and paint it but thats to come.

I also have 2 12'' cerwin vega, vega series subs

there made for slot ported box's

but i can easily get my hands on any alpine subs, clarion sub's or any of the subs directed electronics has , orion, PPI, directed, extrem etc..

so just basicly would like to get some idea's

thank you

what do you want to know i did my 2000 s10 my hole 40''x15'' and it sounds great but i did mine different then most instead of haveing the face of the box against the bed wall i brought the box in to the cab and make it flush with the back wall and sealed it up to keep the sound in the cab

pros

put anything in you want

can build a massive box

(mines 9 cuft)

still have all you room in the cab

can make it look very nice for shows

cons

structure is weakened

truck it's worth **** after you do it

if you were to sell it the system has to go with

road noise will drive you nutz

unless sealed right it will leak like a siv (spelling)

but hell i did it LOL and i'd do it again it's the price we pay for loud now get the sawzaw out and get to work

didnt you guys think of getting some steel and an arc welder to strengthen it up? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

i was pondering getting an S10 or somthing (dakota? nissan?) and cutting a hole, but then welding on some extruded bar stock around both holes to strengthen it up, and then just painting it all with sound deadener to keep it from rusing... then make a STEEL box (weld) that goes into the bed, and sliding a wood box inside that (padded on the outside to prevent rattles) and paint it with truckbed liner...

then seal the two holes together (again the acordian gasket crap) but subs AND port facing into the truck will sound great, if the subs are in the bed and ported into the cab, its more like an ABC box, or a bandpass box than a ported box - and id design it that way to begin with.

crazy-sweet

I had the whole back wall cut out of my 84 S10. Had a sleeper turned walk through with 4 older Kicker 15's ( Kicker was in gold on the dust cap) had to do ALOT of bracing to keep the body work in one piece. It was louder than HELL! Was pretty cool the way it was setup though.

when you take out the system for resale, keep the pieces you cut out, weld them back and put in a bedliner they will never know

These are some great vids of the XXX movin and shakin it... but ......the last one????... WTF:eyebrow: is up with all the garbage and sh!t in the front seat?? That is ridiculous! HAVE SOME PRIDE! Clean it up man!

It's not rocket science and easy to strengthen the back wall if need be.

These were some of mine;

I tried this a few times in my 92 chevy silerado ext. First I cut a 12" x 12" pass through, and fired only the ports through the rear of the box into the cab from 2 18" audiobahn 1805's the subs fired into the bed. Then I put in 4 12" infinity kappa perfects in a sealed box firing into the cab only through the 12 x 12 pass through. It was not nearly enough, so I cut the passthrough bigger and it sounded a little better. I was the happiest with ports only firing into the truck, however port and sub may be good also I never tried it. I used accordian style weather stripping and window sealant to seal it all. It severely weakened the structure of the truck when I enlarged the whole though. I would not do a large whole again for a daily driver. Good luck.
I drive mine every day and i have no problems at all. My entire back of the truck is all gone now for a wall.
