can somebody explain the passive radiator concept to me

More or less the same as a port. With a port, the freq is determined by the area of the port and the mass of air inside the port...with PR it's the area of the PR and you just calculate the mass of air that would be in a port of the same area and add that mass. They sound nice and can save a lot of area but will roll off below tuning much steeper than port.

well they list that frequence response so I will try to use it. Also, does it help to have the marine speakers in their towers for such a thing...

Yep. It would be a little over 3 wired in series, but that’s fine.

Agreed. I was actually thinking of building a 3-way passive and I compared the cost to a Dayton DSP and it makes no sense to go passive.
