hey whats good evryone. Im planning on building something new this week but i think im going to switch things up. Ive built ported mdf enclosures and done alot of sealed fiberglass stuff but Ive never done a ported glass enclosure. So I want to build a mdf ported enclosure with a fiberglass 'cover'.
The sub is an old RE SEXXX in great condition, I had it in 4.5 cubes @~33 and I remember it shook but the upper end couldve been better. The new amp for it is an american bass 100.1.
So first of all is there anything I can do with my volume and tune to give me a better overall response? Im willing to sacrifice some low end.
heres the deal, i know its late but I hope your imaginations are still running. Think a rectangular box, with an oversized trapezoid shaped top where the woofer sits sloped @ ~30 degrees, and an even more oversized bottom piece ( cut like \_X_/ ugh kill the top half of the X!). This all should give me a nice shape when I fleece wrap it and should look awesome with 2 6" pvc ports running from inside the box to the front of the piece (hence the cut) The empty area between the mdf and cover should give me plenty of room for long ports, and there will be bracing in the box and outside on them. Winisd is telling me like 25 inches but the velocity seems to be a little high when i put 1200 watts as the signal.
So I guess the whole question to this crappy post is how can I make this sub sound better and is resined fleece alone going to hold up in this application since the sub is technically in an mdf enclosure? It would save me alot of work if it does.
sorry for all the confusion
