BNC instead of RCA

I get BNC to RCA connectors for pretty much free at my bros studio. Since BNC cables are shielded extremely well could I just use BNC cables instead of RCA cables?

the pros I see are:

- Cheaper

- Ease of "quick disconnect and lockin action"

- well shielded for the dollar

- its a signal cable

the only cons I only see are:

- i have to worry about "kinks" in the wire.

reason i ask now is so i dont go rippin wires out of my car and throw some cables in and find out they wont work well.

i love bnc's for their locking features. Really cable is cable, a quality RCA and a quality BNC are going to be practically the same minus the connector.

You'd still have to use an adapter at the amp that is an RCA....but if you can get those as well...It should work fine it will be a little unique because not everyone will have them...plus they are free //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif One thing to look at is make sure the RCA's are spaced far enough apart on the amp so that 2 BNC's will work next to each other ...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

teh connectors I get are connectors not the cables. so i can get as many as i need really. the cables are cheap its like $20 or 100footer

heres what it looks like.



i just wanted to know if i would get any issues using BNC cables.

Shouldn't have an issue.

BUT, you're still attatching a quick locking action to a REGULAR RCA... into the amp.

^ I was thinking the same thing. Never heard of BNC connectors, but it seems to me that you're only attaching those connectors to the RCA end...which seems to mean nothing since the RCA end is the only interface with the pre-out. Right?

w/ my experience, BNC cables are more for video than transmitting audio.

Besides, the cable itself is REALLY hard to work with, and if you dont know to coil / uncoil it right, its gonna look all crappy. RCA's are SOOOO much more flexible as well.

I understand that but the idea[/idea] i was goin for was to have all the connectors hooked up to HU/Amps and just attach BNC to them with ease of takin out and putting back. But I probally should just use RCAs and save myself the trouble in reinstalling the new cables.
