Best way to improve midbass?

I have a set of rainbow germs and I'm looking for a lot of midbass, I haven't deadened my doors yet but I am shortly. Would putting the germs in kicks and putting dayton 7" midbass drivers strictly for midbass in the doors sound decent and would I be able to run them off the same crossover or would i need a seperate crossover. Thanks for the help.

-Mount on a 3/4" MDF Ring

-Using non-hardening modeling clay around the MDF ring

-Deaden doors heavily, especially behind the midbass

-Seal any holes (esp the large ones) in the door

-Make sure the speaker is mounted on the metal door itself, not the plastic panel

If you have this done, you will have good MB response.

Make sure you set your crossovers properly.

Deadening and the MDF ring will make the biggest difference.

^^^ agreed, I wouldnt go less then 3 layers each door of dynamat extreme or second skin damplifier pro, this would result of pure sound and warm mid-bass, of course, the more layers, the better.

how do you guys get the door panels back on after that much deadening?

usually any more than 1 layer poses problems getting clips back it all the way.

screws on the other hand can be tightened down nice, its those dam clips that piss me off.

well yeah, but the added thickness of the deadener wont let the clips go all the way in to clip properly due to the panel hitting the deadening.

well the factory may have extended clips! they did for my eclipse anyway

Deadening should NOT interefere with the door panel at all. It's only a few mm's thick for christ's sake...

i'm not sure what your talking about when you say "clip", but you deading it all, then you stick 3/4 of your sized speaker mdf on the door and stick your speaker on it, its as simple as that...

in a single layer yes, but after muliple layers it adds up. alot of the cars i have dealt with have clips that give you about 2-3mm clearence that you can work with.

extender clips like mike mentioned might be the solution, not sure if they even offer them for most cars, not like i need them as i dont plan on a super system, i was just asking about having problems getting clips to hold secure after alot of deadening with some cars with clips. cars that screw the door panel to the door are no prob.

i have myself put 3 layers of deadening in an older escort with not a prob, due to screws being used to fasten the panel on.

i'll most likely only need a single layer for my project. my question was generic about other cars i've dealt with with clips to secure the door panel.
