attaching tweeters to the head unit

Ok heres the deal. I just got some Kenwood tweeters with inline crossover capacitor. I have my door speakers set up to an amp, so there are no speakers attached to my head unit. Can I just hook the tweeter up to the head unit where the front speakers would normally be?

Are you saying you want to run the tweeters off the HU power? Yes, you can do what you were saying by using finding the correct wires in the harness. Only problem is that the tweeters might be quieter/not as clean sounding as your woofers.

If you have a 4 channel amp, you could run each tweeter and each woofer on it's own channel. Then you're basically running active (except you cant actually choose your own crossover points). My set of Focal components have that built in crossover capacitor thing your Kenwood tweeters do, and I run each speaker off it's own channel from my 4 channel amp. It works great and gets the speakers cleaner power.

i would run them off the amp but im already running my 4 door speakers off the amp.

you'll be fine off the head unit..

you will probably also have to re tune the amp so the tweets and the mids off the amp are putting out at the same level. Chances are that either the tweets or the mids are going to be louder once you wire the tweets to the deck.
