I am running 2 db drive 2ks strapped at 3 ohms, if I drive for anything more than 30 minutes I can start to smell the amps and they are very hot to the touch. But this all happens when my volume is completely off the whole time. Anyone have any ideas why this is? I am running my rcas to an axxcess volume knob then straight to the amps. I have them strapped the way the manual says and have gains set with an oscope. My electrical is up to par, at full tilt burps if I stay on the volume it stays between 12.6-12.8, never dips below low 13s on music, but this shouldn't matter because the amps aren't doing a **** thing when they get hot. Please help cause I am baffled(oh puns)

PS I have not had them protect at all and I can run the amps at full tilt for just as long and they get about the same amount of hot, it doesn't seem to matter what they are doing volume off or full tilt, after about 30 minutes of them being on they will just get hot enough to stink. I also have been driving with no subs in my car for about a week(so nothing connected to the amps) and they are still getting hot.

You don't need two amps. The speakers come with crossovers to help protect the tweeters.
