I am trying to figure out if I need more conductor on my sub's speaker wire.
Jp23 Amp wired to 1ohm. 2 12" XFL subs. Currently have 12ga wire from Amp to sub box.

So the Amp outputs AC voltage that increases with volume, correct?
What about the current?
I'm guessing these values can be calculated?

Help school me.

12 ga nominally is good to around 2400 watts in pure ofc copper. 10 ga gets you about 3600 watts, and 8 ga around 4800 watts. On short runs (6ft or less), they all could handle more.

OK, good to hear. Thanks for the reply.

What happens if the wire isn't large enough? Does it turn into a fire source?

It would also be easy to add an equalizer to have individual rca inputs for all of the channels. A decent one can be had for less than $40...

No need to bypass the amp. Most use an LOC that takes the full amped signal and turns it into a flat RCA level signal. Here is the newest I have...
