I want to get some 6.5" components but i already have the stock 5x7 components with a tweeter in the doors. I heard that they will fit with a little modification but will it be that hard or what? Has anyone done this, and what would i have to do?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

Build an adaptor plate. It really isn't very hard to do.

O I got MAD skills!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif What thickness MDF should i use? So i just make an adapter plate somehow? So like it will stick out of the normal hole so they will fit and then the screws go into the MDF and the back will fit in the 5x7 hole? Correct?

The thickness will depend on how much clearance you have behind the door...I used 1/2", but that's because I only had 3/4" or so of space before the panel hit.

yup just like jim said, all depends on your doors. i personally used 3/4.

and yes to the other question, the baffle goes into the stock screw holes or whatever and then you drill your own holes in the mdf and use that the screw your speakers.

Alright i guess im a little confused on how to get the drilled in. Is there any pics of this or something? I guess i just dont get it. Haha sry.

Use self-tapping sheet metal screws to go into the surrounding door metal...put some non-hardening modelling clay between the MDF and the metal, first.

Alright thanks for the help. Pics?

I came across those too. Seen all the drivers out on the alibaba sight for sure. Wonder who is making them for PPI? Looked long and hard at those...

What are some of the louder, while still sounding good, 6.5" sets out there? Been looking at some of these higher powered Sky High Car Audio sets...
