450/4 vs pdx4.150

I'm currently re-configuring the set-up that I've not yet hooked up. My original plan was to run the 165K2p and 165v to be powered by a JL 450/4, but I just purchased the Phoenix Gold Ti6 elite components 150x2 RMS so now I have to sell my 450/4 and get an amp thats 150x4. I'm currently looking into the Alpine PDX4.150. I don't know it seems really small and its a class D. My other option was to get 2 JL 300/2, but thats alot of extra weight and room. So it would be nice to know if anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What I have so far:

JL 1000/1 1000x1

JL 450/4 100x2 + 75x2

JL 300/4 (broken)

Focal 165K2P U/G 100x2

Focal 165v 75x2

PG Ti6 elite comp 150x2

And yet to come...

Subs:

Don't know yet, most likely a W7 or 2 2007 S10L7s in max rec enclosure for Loooows.

head unit:

Kenwood Ddx-8017

Isn't there a difference in power? how can that small amp do as much as 2 300/2? And besides a class A/B is believed to sound better than a class D in most cases. and the technology behind the slash amps like, power output from 11v-14v, high damping factor, THD, etc, etc. Its Alpine's debut on the PDX amps that have no reputation as a product. I really dont want to have to use 3 amps in my car. I would like to keep it minimal.

You don't have to put rated power to speakers.

I would use the 450/4 and decide from there.

Just because they are rated at 150w RMS doesn't mean they require it....especially if you are using one pair for rear fill.

Isn't there a difference in power?
Yes, probably in favor of the PDX.

CA&E Tested it to do just shy of 500w x 2 bridged.

Size has nothing to do with power.

Myth.

I wouldn't exactly call it a leap of faith to go with the Alpine.

They've been out for over a year now.....plenty of people have used them, plenty of people have liked them.

I would like to keep it minimal.
Sounds like the PDX is the amplifier for you then......if you feel the need to change.

yepp and the zx650.4 and zx850.4 are better then both amps u are considering, lol.......... in my personal opinion

i also have a rare TOTAL T.M.A. 440/4 amp and its a ****ing BEAST!!!

"Best" is just what makes you happy. Happiness is just an option though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
