Alpine iLX-W650 or Atoto S8 Premium?

Preamp outputs on the atoto are 2v for the speakers and 0.8v for the subwoofer. How drastic would that be? I'm not too familiar with preamp voltages and their effect.

Alpine iLX-W650 or Atoto S8 Premium?

Looking to get an android head unit for my truck. I have a 5 channel precision power trax5 2200D amp collecting dust as well as an old bravox 12" sub. I figured I'd get some components off Amazon. I don't need top of the line, I'm just trying to piece together a cheap system for a beater weekend...

Attempting to set gains with DMM, but can't reach desired voltage...

Would upgrading "the big 3" be necessary with my current system? 240w from the mono amp and 320w from my 4 channel amp? ~560w total. The factory amp I replaced was 200w. I am not experiencing any dimming lights, and my factory alternator is 120a.

Attempting to set gains with DMM, but can't reach desired voltage...

So a little update. I set my sub amp with a 40hz -5db tone and I had absolutely no problem reaching the 31v mark with the head unit at 0, and all additional settings on the amp at 0 (using the gain only). I also set my components with a 1000hz -5db tone. I set my low pass filter and high pass...

    6.5" cheap rear fill coax

Looking to get some cheap rear fill 6.5" coax. I don't have much top mount height, so tweeter protrusion needs to be minimal. I have about 8mm or 5/16" to top mount height available. Thanks

Attempting to set gains with DMM, but can't reach desired voltage...

I am trying to obtain that certain voltage on that -10db tone from what was recommended to me in the thread. Honestly I know very little regarding car stereo. The head unit does not display +8db, it just says +8. All I know is that I've read to set the gains with a DMM, I take the lower of...

Attempting to set gains with DMM, but can't reach desired voltage...

I am running a Kenwood KDC-X597 head unit with 4v preamp, Precision Power PPI BK650.1D mono amp, Bravox PXW12D-2 12" subwoofer, MB Quart DSC 480 4 channel amp with Polk DB6501's up front.

Attempting to set gains with DMM, but can't reach desired voltage...

Well I tried it again with the 40hz -10db tone. With my low pass filter maxed (250hz), and all other settings at 0, I set my head unit to 75% of the maximum volume. The bass remote made no difference if it was connected or not, so I left it connected and maxed. After slowly turning my gain up...

Attempting to set gains with DMM, but can't reach desired voltage...

That makes sense. Thanks again for the help, as I am still very very new to all of this. I will report back tomorrow once I've set the gain.

Attempting to set gains with DMM, but can't reach desired voltage...

I've been told the proper way to set my amp with a dmm is to multiply the wattage by resistance, and square it. 240x4 = 960. sqrt of 960 is 30.98. Without cranking up the bass boost on the amp, I cannot reach a 31v reading on my dmm.

I'm sure I am. Can you elaborate for me?

Attempting to set gains with DMM, but can't reach desired voltage...

I forgot, in order for me to reach my 31v I have to increase my bass boost to around +6db (with a range of 0db to +12db). I though I shouldn't need to adjust the bass boost at all?

Attempting to set gains with DMM, but can't reach desired voltage...

I did forget to mention I set my head unit volume to 26 (75% of my maximum). I will attempt it again tomorrow with the head unit at 26, low level cross over at maximum (250hz), remote at maximum and a 40hz tone at either -5 or -10db. Thanks again for the help.

Attempting to set gains with DMM, but can't reach desired voltage...

Hello, I've run into some issues setting the proper gains on my mono sub amp. I've set all levels, phase align, bass boost, subsonic crossover and low pass crossover to as far counter clockwise as I could. I also left the remote gain controller in the middle setting, as I've read to do. My...

Engine whine and ground loop fixes... take two

Disregard. Ground loop was solved by running a new and larger ground from my head unit, to the body of the car. Sanded the paint away, self tapping screw and lock washers made for a solid grounding point. No more alternator whine!
