Port area should be decided by Qes and Vas, you paraphrased and oddly elaborated on my previous comment. Higher freq can build heat due to reducing cooling from travel, The more effective the enclosure acoustically couples with its surrounding space the more efficient it is. Hence the horn.
Different coil coatings smell differently. Lack of cooling can cause overheating. Movement restricted minimizes travels, reduces cooling. A 1700W @ 2 ohm amp is based on a non-reactive load and perfect voltage and @ who knows what freq. Your sub will have impedance rise from movement and...
Track down a good class a/b, modern are lower damping and have weaker power supplies than the oldschool versions. Compared to class D, a good a/b will have more damping, less thd and better channel separation and a wider, flatter response.
The tc1K 12 is more sq oriented, the eclipse drivers were a bit louder and more warm sounding thanks to a bit more q and a higher fs. The tc1K drivers are very box dependent thanks to their higher than average ebp and power has to be more closely monitored becasue Xmax and Xmech are dangerously...
I can send ya mine to play with if you are super good to it and return it when finished, I'm not needing it till my next run of proto coils get finished, and thats probably near mid summer.
Good luck with that underhung tc build not being a big midrange, unless the bl is in the **** range the Q on those never turns out to be one that allows for usable extension.
These in 1net @ 34Hz on 200rms put tactility in the seats of my 4runner from the cargo area, nice SQ and Efficiency to boot
