I went from a 9811 to a 9835 and I love it, don't think i'll be upgrading anytime soon as for the issue you're having with your deck remove the faceplate and look at the copper conductive dots they be dusty and cause it to work intermittently if you have the remote try it as well

Interesting read I was always under the impression that impedance rise would cause your output to decrease as if you wired your subs to a higher load i.e: if your amp puts out 1000w rms at 1 ohm and 600w at 2 ohm, rising to 1.8ohm would give you roughly 600w... if its rather irrelevant and does...

like everyone else said tuning goodies like T/A is a must, I was nervous when I ditched my crossovers and went active but after about 20 mins of fidding with my 9835 I knew it was worth it already. Like everything in life it takes planning and plenty of time trust me the results are worth it
