Its been over 8 years sense I have had a good system
in any of my vehicles. Now a disabled Vet I have more
than enough time to build a nice system. I think its been
12 years of so sense I did an install so much of the install
will take more time than most of you.

The car is one of those dream car deals, found an old
lady that was selling, it belonged to her late husband.
It will also get an interior restoration along with the
audio install. So, I will have to work around materials
waiting to be made or shipped. The system will be an
8chan with no rear fill.

THE GEAR
front stage MBQuart RWC200's 8"/ DSD210's 4" component
The 8's will go in the doors with the 4" component in the kicks


The amps that I'll use aren't yet decided. I have
two A/D/S P450 BUT I don't know if I want to use
them in favor of some newer low current draw. The
head and processors are again oldschool Sony ES
P1,X1,T1. Subs are yet to be determined but will
need to be slim in nature.

So, I'm looking forward to updates and input from
you guys/gals. If anyone has 1st hand knowledge
of some nice low current draw amps and slim subs
I'm open for suggestions.

Car is clean as hell. I've always wanted to grab up an old porsche but I'm terrified of the old aircooled motors. My uncle has one and they've got many inherent problems such as the throttle cable sticking and burning oil like it's the fuel source

On a typical domestic motor, that wouldn't scare me as much because it's easy (and cheap) to rebuild. I've asked people though and the rebuilds on these old motors are worth far more than the car because of a specialty parts. Even the **** studs for attaching the head to block are like a GRAND because they're some special alloy that has some special expansion rate that allows them to mate the aluminum head on the steel block or something and expand at some linear rate so there are no stresses or leaks. I guess that comes with the territory of owning a once exotic car

Like I said though, clean as hell man. Can't wait to see the build. Old Porsche styling > newer. Old porsches have the best curves, by far the best was mid 90's turbos. Those fat ass fender flares out back... mmmm

no one repairs porsches because the cost/profit margin makes sense, nor does one buy an air cooled porsche for the reliability factor

why do several members of this forum hate the air cooled engines so much, and go so far as to replace them with V8s? it is destroying the point of the car, which is light weight and essence, even if that essence is unreliable and not very powerful.

Not it is Maryse. The car came from the Fl/Bama

Honestly the late 80s 911's are considered to be
a very reliable auto to own. Nearly every air cooled Porsche burns some oil on start up, its perfectly normal. Burning and leaking oil is pretty normal also. For the most part its items like rear main seals (which get changed when one does a clutch) and all the oil lines. This car has been completely restored with receipts except for the interior. It is currently black (which I will keep) but I am going to change it for a shade of red. Silver and red on a classic sports car to me is a great look. I'll keep many of the harder to cover black but for the most part everything will be in the red/lobster color. Those parts are being built/made now and hope to be in by the time I get the second half of my disability pay.

A properly taken care of 911 is just as reliable as any other high preformance sports car. Don't be scared to drive it like you stole it

he bought the car because he wanted it. patina is rare these days and i hope he doesn't put a 350 in it, but that's my opinion. my uncle has a 72 914 and it's not the most reliable car but he wouldn't change anything about it for the world

Fear not, it will keep the flat 6 and G50 trans which
by the way is what most Pantar's have as a tranny.
For that matter, many popular mid/rear engine kit
cars use the G50 trans.

This car was as near to perfect as I could find within
600 miles of where I live. I was looking at many all over
the country, I just didn't want to do a flyin which I did
with my last car. I was only looking for three colors, white
silver, and black. This one was listed on Craigs for one day
when I found it. I had a pre purchase inspection done and
found each cyl was within 2psi in compression and leakdown
was 8-10%. So the engine itself checked nearly what a new
one did in 1987, not bad for a 20+yo car. I would like to see
what a Nissan, Vette, or anyother sports car reads after 20
years?


SO GUYS, which 10" slim subs would you use? I've been looking
at the Quart mostly because of all the other Quart speakers I
already have....

AMPS, I've got those 2 4chan A/D/S amps but have been thinking
of changing for something that uses much less current. SUGGESTIONS?

my 1973 fiat spider has great compression haha. course that's a whole different ballpark than yours. if it makes any difference my dad built a 350 for his camaro that cracked the block after less than a year and he's had nothing but problems with the heads. my 400 for my trans am keeps eating camshafts. i love american cars but it seems european cars just hold up better

Its funny you put it that way. I hadn't ever thought
but looking back, I've only owned 1 domestic vehicle
and that was a truck. All of my cars have been Jap
or German, I hadn't ever planned it that way.....


Here is the deal. After I paid off everything I owed
from the first part of my disability I was left with X
amount. So, do I invest it in a market that is doing
anything but going up; or, do I purchase something
that is going up. I was left with a few choices in
cars, 65-67 Stang, 55-57 Chev, 71Vette, or late
80s 911. I came in way under budget and have
already been offered 6k more than I paid. Not bad
for a car that still needs some work. Oh and I should
say this isn't my daily driver, even though I only put
2600 miles on it last year

it's a myth, or really an old wives tale, that all air cooled 911 cars burn oil. that only happens if they are not properly cared for. my 83 with 106k never loses a drop between changes but i did just throw what would have been $6k into it if i had a shop do all the work. the only thing cheap on a 911 is the air to fill the tires. routine costs are proportionate and they are very easy to work on. if you want something that will be cheap to maintain buy a hyundai or a focus. if you want something with performance and style it will cost more to buy and more to maintain and you can almost double that for cars over 25 years old. that's why my 911 is one of my toys and my dd is an 05 neon.

OH HELL, I didn't know we were in a race? Not fair
at all, I'm working with a disability and enough dope
to get everyone on this board high as condor *u&&Y

You may should have used my upholsterererer, they send
samples of the material before shipping.... Now if I could
just find some carpet under 600 bucks.

I'll prolly sling some glass on Sunday, may even have enough
time to complete the kicks. If I don't get too screwed up at
the Bama/LSWHO game tomorrow......

I had a bit of progress over the weekend, not as much
as I had hoped due to a little storm coming to town so
I had to get things in order around the house.

Anyway, I got the kicks out of the car masked and ready
to glass. Made some templates of the kick baffles, purchased
some materials (wood, resin, cloth). With the amount of
humidity that we have now I didn't want to risk any glass lay-ups
so I got as much done as I could.

Will post pics after my first lay-up.
