Accident - Amp RCA's done for - question

the box is an easy 250. the sub is close to 90.

and i understand the concept of physics, i've braked extremely hard before at sudden stops at high rates of speed and it didnt move THAT much. this moved a good foot, not a few inches as if i braked suddenly.

and i went with allstate because they dropped my premium from $990 to $660 (state farm to allstate). i'll consider progressive, but they quoted me at around 8-900 also.

i havent had any issue with them (allstate). the guy willingly tossed me a check for 3g's for the damage, and said if the body shop brings up any other charges they will cut a check to pay for the difference..

You have it backwards. A lighter box will move LESS than a heavier box, from the same speed/stop. A heavier box will tend to keep moving becuase it has more mass, and therefore intertia, and will take more energy to stop it. If you had two boxes in your car; a light one and a heavy one; when the car breaks suddenly the heavier box will want to keep moving thru space further because it has more mass/inertia to keep it going. If your box had been lighter, it would have moved LESS, not more.

Have a freind drop a tennis ball from a balcony and catch it. Then drop a bowling ball from the same heigth and catch it. Which one is harder to stop? Which one moves more with same effort to catch?

The heavier the box, the more need there is to bolt it down, and bigger bolts are needed as it's weight increases.

... and allstate sucks balls and they will screw you in the end.

it takes more force to move a larger or heavier mass.

and i'm going to go with what i've seen in my car, and how i brake, and what i've put in it, rather than some ******* on the internet who, instead of contributing advice to my question, decides to nitpick like a 87 year old grandmother about shit that has nothing to do with the original question.

Yes. That's what you don't understand. Your engine moves the car and box together. When you break, the heavier sub box keeps moving due to inertia. The car stops out from under it, but the heavy box keeps moving thru space. That is why loose heavy objects in your car are more dangerous than light ones.

Use a soldering iron and some glue and jumper wires. RCA connections are easy to fix. Parts from PartExpress.

Just don't hurt yourself lifting that 400 lb sub box or trip over your 3 foot ****. LOL!

oh you are hilarious. the XXX is a 80-90lb sub byitself, that include with the box its well over 300 lbs total.

and the rca's are snapped off at the amp, and i don't have the time or skill to do a repair job like that.

XXX 15" weighs 76 lbs. So your box would have to weigh 324 lbs to get you to 400 lbs.

Take the amp to a few car audio shops and ask if they do repairs. If the price for repair is more than half the price of a new amp, sell the amp on one of these car audio forums (you should be able to get a decent price) and buy a new amp. Or try the repair yourself. Really, a new connection mount is about the easiest repair to do. Even if the chassis mount and printed board are completly torn out. Just glue them back in or build a new section of board and panel to mount to. Solder some jumper wires and done.

ya make sure you get the box bolted down, my friends box came through his back seat in his accident. good think no one was sitting back there.
