what happens when you either..
1. Half *** build a woofer
2. Improperly seat a coil in the gap
3. Have shitty Quality Assurance to test woofers
4. All of the above..
When you do not seat a coil to rest at dead center.. whichever way the coil is away from center.. it has an increase potential to go in that direction... This is called Asymmetry.
The Audiomobile, with it being glued 11 mm forward, went forward much easier.. which drove the former / coil, farther than the cone could travel.. which is how Tom tore a woofer up..
You also get some Intermodulation distortion, from the nonsymetrical BL curve...
It also limited the clean excursion to 22mm for the EVO-r...
Now Matt is gonna come on here, and blame his builder.. but the problem lies squarely on
HIS shoulders, for not testing woofers as they leave his hands.. and head to customers...
He claimed in the article that he'd never seen his drivers be that screwed up, and hinted that it must be a problem limited to just those two drivers...... but that would be a lie... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
