JL Audio 10"s how do I get better bass

I have two JL Audio 10's in a competition bandpass box I bought from best buy. I have a 450 watt kenwood sub amp. Both the speakers are W-O's and have 4 ohms on each of the subs. I know that these subs should sound better but im not sure what to do. Could the ports on the box be wrong for the subs? Im thinking about getting an equalizer or a crossover to tune it up. I really want more bass. Im thinking about just putting in new subs cause this just aint cutting it. Thanks for the help.

well your first problem would be the bandpass box...not recomended unless tuned properly.....another problem is the fact that they are 10's...not really great for maximum bass....more for sound quality...i would recomend getting a ported box....should help a little bit...good luck

I agree. Loose the band pass box. I had an epicenter in my truck(http://www.4wheeldrive.about.com/library/us/ucjasonbell.htm) using 4 polk dx 10's. This system was measured to hit a 149.2 on the SPL Meter at a sac. event.(IASCA). If you want raw bass try an epicenter.

Yeah it probably is. Sometimes just shaving an inch or two off the port makes a difference in some boxes. But, my suggestion, would be to build yourself a nice ported box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

PS: You could try an Epicenter(Audiocontrol, Phoenix Gold, etc) but I think you best bet would be to make a ported box.

Can check the specs on a bandpass box with the specs for your subs etc using a program called winISD check it out and may be able to find a better curve for them. However, it is highly recomended to go without bandpass box and go ported.
