How Many OHMS for the JBL1200?

kinda screwed yourself there, eh?

The jbl is stable into 1 ohm. You acheive that by wiring your duel 2's in parallel. The only problem with running the jbl @ 1 ohm is it WILL get hot. Very hot. Also, there is no gain from 1ohm to 2ohms.

well you may be right it might get hot.

But I read a review the other day that said it is one ohm stable and it does not get hot but it could be rong just somthin I read on this site in fact go to the review section and look under jbl 1200.1

Simple series parallel my friend. Run each sup in series, and then parallel the pair....the amp basically does the last part for you. This will give you a 2ohm final load, exactly what the JBL prefers. Your good to go! IF YOU RUN EACH SUB IN PARALLEL you will have HALF OHM load....the JBL WILL get hot....probably fry.

actually.....a series parallel will get you something more like a three ohm load.....2.6 something by my calculation.....and he would only be using ONE of his amps. Remember, he said he has two.

The only real options he has utilizing both amps would be to run them at either 1 ohm or 4 ohm, and even tho JBL says it's one ohm stable, it will get hot as hell. I had an audio art 50hc that was supposed to be half ohm stable, and it was.....if you replaced the fuse and didn't mind it getting hot enough to fry eggs!
