Opinion about Hollywood subs.

RangerMan, from what I've read so far on this forum you guy's seem to do some pretty honest reviews of speakers, so please do a test of one of HSL 80 series excursion, PRO, or Edge series subs and give you're own personal opinion...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ;)
Give me one and I'll do it, LOL...seriously, I'll try to find one and do a review of it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If you are going to quote me at least get it right! What I said was that the 173 outlaw score was a official usaci record "TWO YEARS AGO" and yes alot of sh*t can change in that time. Don't come to me talking about what you think you heard someone doing, show me an official score of 180 in any catogory from any org. OR shut the hell up!

That goes double for you!

hey i'm just stating what i've read and i don't doubt that people can easily do 180's outlaw. when people like nate munson can hit 171.8 on the dash legal with a single 15" 180's in outlaw shouldn't be too hard. especially since he is just single sub world record not world record in general.

well, if you want to know about hollywood excrusions, I have some insite as to wheather or not they are worth it.

I bought a pair or 1280d's together, they should have handled each 400rms and 800 peak, (800rms, 1600peak combined) but, I dont think so.

they are worth it if you are not going to blast the hell out of them ok.

they bump, they go low, they sound nice with rock

just dont try to be cool and get a amp that can f^ck them up. they wont last too long like that, trust me. I havent had them for a year yet.

those guys that hit high numbers put them in a custom box, and I could have done that too but they still would have blown and I would probably be the record holder, so if you think that those subs can do that without the special box your wrong. the box is the key to records, not the subs.

I blew both. and I think they sound good, but dont think that they cam do much more, because the really must have a crappy coil. , if you get these subs try to get a custom box, and dont try to go too much over the rms vaule. they arnt ment to blow competition. now, I have to find some sub that can handle my amp, andI know that is going to be exspensive. the rms is 500@ 4 ohms 750 peak @ 4 ohms. 750@2ohms 1000peak@2ohms 1000rms@1ohm 1500peak@1ohm and I blew them with the 2ohms set up. some one suggested that I get the mtx subs, I would like some opinions on that idea, thanks

The enclosure will always be part of the equation for any spl vehicle, that's simple physic's but if you were blowing your 1280d's with only 750w between the pair then you were doing something "WAY" wrong like either having them in too large of an enclosure(they are recommended for 1 cube sealed), or you are simply sending a clipped signal into them, if you tried to use a ported box then you had better know how to do the math. It should also be noted that the basic parameters of speakers and enclosures relations can be aplied to any speaker. Don't fault the product when it's the installer and or user that's at fault for the failure of the equipment. This may not be the case here but is sure sounds like it to me.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif :nono: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif

yeah it could be the box I had them in, but I know the hook up was right, , I can get the subs replaced for $50 but I know that the box is not to spec. I still like the subs, dont get me wrong. I paid only 150 for both brand new

Man you did get a deal, I can't even get them that cheap from my source, if it'll only cost you $50 then get them replaced and try them in seal box, what could it hurt? I think you might be surprised at how much volume you can get out of them, if you're not happy then sell them to someone and then you're out of nothing..

P.S. If it seems like I was coming off like a prick earlier it was not meant to be and I'm sorry!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif :D //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

the box is sealed. it might be two big. but I got it at the swap mart. I will try to get a custom box from a friend that works at cardinal car stereo, in phx. I need to get the trunk sealed too, the weather stripping is bad and the trunk rattles so much that my rear window shakes like crazy too. the car is a 85 buick regal two door. I want to have the box flesh mouth with the rear deck opening and mouth my amp on the drives side planel opposite of the spare, but if I come across some money, I am going to get another amp identical to the one I have and have them both mounted there and run them in a parelle amp set up which will give me 1000rms-1500peak @4ohms, 1500rms-2000peak @2ohms, 2000rms-3000peak@1ohm. but I know that this is too much power for just two of those hollywoods, so I may have to get some different subs and a different custom box, well, then I would have to get a three farad cap. and then I would have to get a new alternator and a seperate battery. well this is al talk till I get the cash money. I could use some real ideas which sube to get, because I am going to get this set up when I have the cash. SO I am going to get the subs fixed and then sell them , and get a pair that can handle this kind of power. I am open for suggestion. I have many more questions so here they are.

what speakers would some one recomend for extreme loudness, with remarkable clarity and deffinition, the sizes are 3 1/4, 4x6, componet set 5 1/4, 6x9. I would go alpine but I want your opinion aslo.

pioneer deck (deh4300)

custic x-over

(2) alpine mrv-t 407

visonik v800xd

radio shack:

3 1/4

4x6

6x9

four way component

(2) hollywood excrusion 1280d

Because your 1280d's are dual 4ohms, with the pair wired together you can get a single 4ohm load and the pair will handle that 1000w all day long in 1cube per driver enclosure.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif :D //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Originally posted by A-hole the subs are dual 2 ohms, bro the lowest I could go on a pair was 2ohms . amp cant handle .5ohms
So you have the 1280d2's instead of the 1280d's, simple fix, wire your subs to get a single 2ohm load and run 1500w into the pair!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ;) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Originally posted by BassiKLowZ They are Hollywood Excursions (they also sell their entry level subs in prefab boxes) and the Auto's are the AW Series and Flame Series (They usually keep a set of Natural subs in stock but only a couple pairs of 12's at a time) . . . The guy at the pawnshop says you are able to get them for cheap if you buy them bulk from their distributors, so I guess thats why they sell them. Ive heard a few installs with Hollywoods, they bump a little bit, but they sound as sloppy as the Autos to me. . .
JACKASS!!!!
