in one corner, the US ACoustics USX 4085

the other corner...

Alpine MRV-F540

i claim that the 4085 is a far superior amp than the mrv-f540...because of many factors 1) power, 2) low fuse rating, and 3) PRICE

Mr A claims, i quote, "As far as the 4 channel the Alpine destroys the US acoustics but for the 400 dollar price difference this isn't a suprise. Once again its its better circuitry design and control that make it a better amp..."

US Acoustic Specs: http://www.usacoustics.com/newline/usx/usx4085/index.html

Alpine Specs: http://www.alpine1.com/html/D2_n_1_n_n.html

you be the judge

I have dealt with both amplifiers first hand. And I would have to say that I can't see or hear $400 of difference. I would take the USX- 4085 without thinking twice about. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif But some people are very, very brand loyal. And no matter what you tell them they will always argue with you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif Just remember never argue with an idiot they will just drag you down to their level, and beat you into submission with stupidity //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I don't think you're really comparing US amps apples to Alpines apples. Above all I don't want this to turn into some kind of flaming arguement but, why do you say that the lower fuse rating is a reason to buy the US amp?

Also, are the US amps regulated at 12.9 volts? Is that why they're rated at that?

I know you emphasized price and I believe that's important. But, tell me why the fuse rating is a consideration when you purchase an amp. Do you know about the US amp being regulated at 12.9?

The fuse rating doesn't play into my decision. My decision is based on actual hands on operation and installation of both amplifiers. I just didn't see or here $400 worth of difference. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm really asking the question, I'm trying to argue (sheesh, people on this forum are sensitive).

Is 12.9 volts the cut off for US amps? Or will they let in up to 14.4 volts like the alpine will? Cause at 14.4 the alpine is capable of putting out 150X4 max versus the 85X4 @12.9 volts.............. Both amps are good, but that alpine could produce more power if you have a good alternator and electrical system and can give it that 14.4 volts.

I'm not sensitive man. I thought you were talking to me, my bad. They are just rated at 12.9v The actual operating voltage I believe is 11.5 - 14.4v if I'm not mistaken. I like it when amp manufacturers rate their amps at lower more realistic voltages instead of 14.4v. 12.9v is alot easier to attain than 14.4v constantly. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

^thanx for your input ramos

but i think bean was talking to me about being sensitive.

i just got a lil ticked off cuz he claimed, "I don't want this to turn into some kind of flaming arguement..." but on his post subject he posted "Are you on crack?

so yea...

no hard feelings though bean
