Wiring a 15" Alpine Type R

I have a single 15" Alpine Type R sub with dual voice coil 4ohms each. If i wire in parallel i will be getting a 2 ohm load right? And if i wire in series i will be getting a 8 ohm load right. So i am looking for an amp that would suit my sub. Do i need an amp that specifically puts out 2 or 8 ohms? What happens if a 4ohm amp is pushing subs with 2ohm resistance.

Anyway what type of amp setup would you suggest to get the most out of this sub. A mono amp or a bridged 2 channel?

taylor is running a very clean 1100 watts rms to his type R 15"s so i'd think you would be fine with a 1200.1 if. you may want to look at something that is closer to like the 800-1000 watt range though just to be safe.

I have been told the jbl puts out more then the 1200 watts....I do think that might be alil to much, maybe u should consider the jbl 600.1

I would think that would be more safe.......

wouldn't yall agree?

Either way, that thing will sound veryvery good.

You could purchase the 1200.1 just incase you want more power in the future, and it isnt a whole lot more than the 600.1

just keep your gains down, and you should be fine.

And, yes, thatsub will easily handle 800 watts rms.
