Charging Kinetik HC1800

Hey guys, I'm charging my new Kinetik HC1800. I just got it in today and didn't seem like it had a charge on it (bought an AGM charger as well: SC-600A - 6/4/2 Amp Charger/Maintainer ) -- when I hooked it up to the charger, it showed 0%, and charging. It's been on it now for a few hours @ 4amp and finally hit ~50%. Assuming that's inaccurate anyways.

So, after reading around, it seems like the Kinetiks should be shipped nearly fully charged. Is this correct? If so, then why was mine dead? It was purchased from Sonix.

Also, I bumped up the amperage to 6amps, should I just leave it there or bump it back down to 4? I don't think 2amp would be enough to charge it within a 24-hour period //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif.

I'll be grabbing a voltmeter tomorrow to check voltages. Maybe I should just unhook this from the charger, or doesn't matter?

Let me know, thanks!

How did you figure it was dead? They should come charged, somewhere around 12.6-13v. And bump up the amperage on the charger. Kinetik makes 40,60, and 80amp chargers so amp it up lol. Definately get a dmm. Essential tool for the audio enthusiast.

Well like I said, when I connected it to the agm, it showed 0%. And seriously, that many amps? Thought I was supposed to trickle charge this thing...

Got any links for chargers?

Also, forgot to mention, that this will end up being connected to the alternator eventually, I just wanted to half-*** charge it first.

Kinetik High Current Power Cells

You really trust that charger indicator? Even you yourself say its inaccurate. If it were me, I would disconnect the batt, as I am pretty sure it is charged from the factory. Don't sweat it. You should be good to go.

Thanks, yeah I'll pick up a voltmeter tomorrow and let you guys know where it's sitting. I'm pretty sure it was dead though.

that is just a bulk charge indicator at 4 amps sitting at 12.4v can take a while for a 1400 not to mention a 1800 which is bigger. Often on miy 2/4/6 I have to run it through twice.
