Can I take an amp on a airplane?

Originally posted by kmu I there, could I put an amplifier on my luggage and take it on a plane, or they would not let me since the 9-11...

THX in advance...
Why??? It would be in your best interest NOT too...if you must, your looking at about a 4 hour delay, IF they let you on the plane...

hey well two months ago i boarded a plane from miami international

i had an RF in my hand luggage...but i took it out the box though...it was in my back pack

they didnt say anything

it went through the scanner also

but its a relatively small amp...its about 2.4"x9x"11"

once you take it out the box and keep it in your carry on luggage you will be fine
that's a good idea too...but most airlines dont allow boxes to carried on the plane

you can put it in a gym bag or something and you use the styrotex or card board crate that comes with it

I was going to ask the same question, but with a sub, I mean can you take a sub off the box and put it in your luggage, I ask this because of the big magnet they have that may affect their X-ray machines.

Can I take it cause I just got one as a gift from a friend that doesn´t need it anymore

i couldnt agree more. might behoove you to take a brochure or something along as a reference to show them that you dont have a bomb on your hands //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I was planning on takeing a flight en 9-11 but will stay one more day just in case and I won't take the amp because I don't wanna spend a couple of hours in delay because I lost my plane...

THX for you advise guys... I almost did it...

i wouldnt worry about it...just show up an extra hour earlier than you normally would, and make sure you have somebody with you, so that if they wont let you carry it on, or check it, then you can send it back home with whoever brought you.

Good idea. Or to save yourself some trouble of not knowing whether they will or won't. Just call ahead of time, and ask if there would be a problem. They would be able to give you more specific info as to what you should/shouldn't do. If worse comes to worse, just send it by mail to your house.
