Type-Rs can handle around 600w depends on enclosure... A lot of my co-workers have the 10s powered by 1200w RMS amps (JBL 1200.1 and older PPI 1200w amp).

like i said before, i say let price or box size determine your choosings since youre more than likely never going to be able to listen to all 3 or 4 choices. anyhow i know for sure the type r is on the cheaper end (and smaller box end if you have small space). i'm not even vouching i just haven't heard shivas

ok well i think im gone go with either the shivas or the type r's but before i finally decide can anyone tell me the exact rms of 1 12'' shiva casue i couldnt find it on there site thanks again trevor foster

Anything from 200 to 400 watts would be perfect for a single Shiva.

I'm running mine with 250W...and it's plenty of output.

i'd say both are relatively the same in terms of power handling, you could use the same amp for either (im not considering impedance differences)

really its how much you want to spend... if you want to pop the extra $$$ and get alpine's then go for it, but i have heard both and they sounded alot alike to me. Shiva's would probably cost less but I could be wrong

i think theyre like the same price, ebays got them for under 110. i think if ur ok with a big box go shiva **** ive posted in this thread a lot last time i promise

ok well i just searched and found that a 12" alpine type r and that the Cerwin Vega V-MAX12DVC both have 300 watts rms. So does anyone know what would be better of the 2? And out of the type r the vega V-MAX and the shiva which would be able to run off the lowest amount of watts rms, becuase i have a sorry amp that my mom bought for xmas that we cant take back

I would take the Shivas or Type-R before the Cerwin-Vega, hands down.

ok well can u tell me wat subs would be better to run off a sorry amp the shiva or the type r becuz i dont have any money to buy a amp so ill have to use what i got for now so which subs would run the best off a sorry amp? if u need to know about the amp please let me know thanks again sorry to ask so many questions

Since they are close in comparison, just get the one that will cost you the least. A bad amp will make any sub sound bad, so it doesnt really matter there.
