Which subwoofer...?

Okay, please take the time to read the following and then give me an answer.

I currently have a 3 subwoofer system setup ( 3x MB Quart PWE 302's ) powered by a Rockford Fosgate 1501 BD amplifier. But after paying a lot of money for it ( stuff is expensive overhere in Holland ), I am verry disappointed with the subwoofers. Not only is the bass not as loud as I wanted it too be, also the sound quality is very disappointing (slow, distorted).

Now after much consideration, I am going to purchase 1 or 2 new subwoofers, probably 12 inch in size.

After doing some research and a lot of emaling, my decision came down to this setup:

2x Brahma 12" subwoofers

And of course powered by my current RF 1501 BD amplifier. I will make the setup so it will run on 2 ohms. According to the RF 1501BD birtsheet it would deliver about 1700W RMS in total. So each subwoofer would get approx. 850W RMS.

Now before going final with this decision, I would like to hear your opinions and considerations on this. And if you have a better idea or solution, please do share it with me.

But please keep in mind the following things:

- Subwoofers need to be fast (keep track with pacey bass) and the bass should be tight and deep/loud.

- The music I mostly listen too is hardtrance, hardstyle and hardcore (for those who don't know these types of music, consider it as techno with a harder and faster beat).

- I want to buy it directly from the subwoofer company, cause I live in the Netherlands and online webstores give me difficulties...

I know it's a long a posting, but if you please would read it thoroughly before replying anything, I would be very happy.

Thanks in advance for those who are willing to help me out here. And I am sorry if my English grammar isn't anything to write back home about...

Regards,

Michel / The Netherlands

i hear the brahmas are very nice and the (http://www.REaudio.com) RE XXX and MT are very good also. i have not had the pleasure of hearing them only what people say. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

good luck and i am sure you will be happy with any of those......

Well to be honest, I don't know the specs of the box...

The best I can do is show you these pictures:

When I decide to go with the Brahma's, which I probably will, then I will go to my local car hifi installer and let him build the subwoofer enclosure for them and make sure it's very high quality. Not saving the money on enclosures... :S

Also maybe the bad sound came from the fact the RF 1501 BD was running at 1.3 ohm, lowering the damping factor down to around 50 or so. Will I have the same problem when I run 2 Brahma's at 2 ohm? Accordig to RF people the RF 1501 BD has a damping factor of >200 at 4 ohms and >100 at 2 ohms. So will >100 be sufficient for the Brahma's to still have good control over them and stuff?

Thanks again.

The MT is not what you are looking for. It was built for spl burps, not really for everday driving and sounding good like the xxx and Brahma.

Well, i have 2 15" brahmas.

i cant really compare the SQ to any woofer because i haven't heard anything close to it.

In a sealed box the brahmas are really punchy.

I have mine in a ported enclosure with a really messed up port.

i was supposed to get a 12" Brahma but i never received it......if i had i could give you a review.

If you get Brahma's and still aren't happy with your system, you can be confident the problem isn't with the drivers. They are top quality, and I suspect would be a very unique and attention getting setup in Holland.

You really have no idea how long Ive been giving advice on these car audio forums do you?
Since August 2003 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gifI was just kidding //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well... I saw some other postings by "people" , who got completely flamed. But what do you expect when you type something like "Yo ****ers wats da best setup for me...!". Okay, maybe I exaggerated a bit too much there. But you understand my point. As long as you are, trying at least, decent / nice, the answers you get back will be decent as well...

I always try to ask a question as good as possible, providing details as much as I can in a decent way (and hopefully in English which people can understand. Since English isn't my native language).

So thanks already so far for the answers. If you have any other options or recommendations, I would like to hear them.

Regards
