Blue Diamond Legacy Amp

You STILL don't get it do you??
One brand's CLAIMED watt doesn't necessarily = another brand's CLAIMED watt.

However,

ANY REAL watt = ANY OTHER REAL watt.

100 Legacy watts = about 20 REAL watts.

100 JL watts = about 130 REAL watts

THERE'S your SQ difference.

The class D's are.

Desi - if you could measure the actual power of that legacy you'd probably find it to be about 50x2. 150w (at best) bridged.

If I believed so, I would NOT be running $1800 worth of amplification.....

and whats with "You STILL dont get it do you??" ??????I dont recall you having the pleasure to attempt to patronize me in the past..... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

this is how it works. 1 legacy watt (or any amp of this quality = 1 real watt. 1 jl\tru\hifonics\alpine ect watt = 1 real watt.

the thing is, the lower end amps dont produce the watts that they claim they can. they over rate their amplifiers so much in fact, that when people try to run them at their claimed wattage, the amps eaither fry, or the quality of sound is terrible due to clipping (pushing the amp as hard as it can go and beyond its limits).

so if you are using a low quality amp that is rated high, and say use a sub with half the RMS of the amp, it might turn out fine. it is my oppinion, when dealing with these brands, that if you cut the RMS they claim to have in half, that is their max power. and the RMS is most likely much lower.

so. a watt=watt. a watt is the amout of electricity that it takes to heat 1cubic inch of water from 0 degrees C to 100 degrees C (freezing~boiling). so you cant have different measurements. its the same thing. unles they are using kelvin or fahrenheit i dont see how this is possible.

just they claim to produce more than they can. thats all. this is why there is 'high end audio'

so go buy your hifonics and bump responsably.

word, hifonics it is

edit: thanks for the help, think buddy woulda been pissed if he ordered the legacy i told him str8 up all i know about legacy is just that, the name nothing elese, told him ill post on here and well end result told him the amp is poo n rock the hifonics

My bad - based on your comment I just assumed you were one of the dorks running around trying to argue that expensive watts have better SQ than cheap ones.

Guess I was wrong.

God, not this argument again............very low quality amps can have non-linear outputs. And poorly designed power supplies can have an effect. Also, a watt is a unit of power equal to the work done at the rate of one joule per second, or to the power produced by a current of one ampere across a potential difference of one volt. A watt is a watt doesn't mean an amp is an amp. That's like saying all engines are equal because 1 hp = 1 hp

Which one(s) exactly would that be, I'd be glad to explain them to you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif (seriously, not flame you for disagreeing, but to explain them) PM me if you would like
