JACKPOT!
I was contacted on 06-12-2004 and given the opportunity to purchase a one of a kind subwoofer. At the time, you might remember me trying to choose between a pair of SE’s or Tempests … well, I wound up with neither, as that is a single box up there.
What could it be? Some of you have been wondering what it is for a while now. “What’s it called?†… well, it’s called an “uberwooferâ€.
Before I feed you the pictures, I’d like to thank three people.
First … thanks to Mark for convincing me to get it. It’s too bad you couldn’t get one, but hey, if I’m ever up there you’ll have a listen. This makes me the only Canadian to own one. Also, the fiberglass tips are coming in handy.
Second … Josh … thanks for the driver, thanks for the receipt, thanks for shipping it to a different address. Living in Canada makes everything difficult, and I know it probably was a pain in the *** for you. I also sent my money to him nearly two months ago, so hey, apparently he does something right. Josh is ultimately responsible for this bad boy. Apparently it’s for HT use, bah … I’ll get it working just fine in-car thank you very much.
Third … Stephen … one “Made In USA†sticker would have been fine, but one in each corner works too!
Want some specs?
BL – Really high.
Fs – Low.
Qes, Qts, Qms, Vas, Sd, Cms – Who cares.
Mms – High.
Power Handling – Guess. You’re right, a lot.
Xmax – We’ll call it “lotsâ€
Weight – Frickin’ heavy.
Now on with the pictures …
Here’s a little hint …
Well packaged … of course.
Getting closer …
There it is.
The beast in its plastic bag.
Out of its bag, the cone.
Side view.
Look at that coil …
Upper … cone, etc.
A little closer.
Decent size.
Down for a nap.
*** end.
Magnet.
Pretty.
Going to try and get as much work done on the enclosure today … will post progress on that later.
Oh, one more thing.
I have one, and you don’t.
