Single or dual voice coil?

Buyng my first sub. Circuit City (kid salesman) says dual voice coil gives deeper tighter bass. Hell I don't know. Looking at deals on dvc Cerwin Vega HED 12" for $60 and Audiobahn AW1251T for a little less. I don't need to shake my Explorer loose or rattle the windows 2 cars over. Just want to upgrade my sound (replaced door speakers w/ Audiobahn 2-ways still using built in factory amp for those) Also have a deal on Polk GXR12 124 for $30 (Circuit City closeout)

Have bought a Bazooka ELA100.2 to run it a single sub only (got amp at C.C. closeout for $63). If going DVC will hook up both channels to it (~100 watt/ch for a total of 200W). Prob will install bass blockers on door speakers. Kenwood MP522 deck just installed, will get Sirius hooked up when doing the sub install.

Please help this "old man" (42 years) get going on his sound!

It's not going to sound great, but if all you want is basic bass upgrade, then it will be fine. It depends on what kind of sound you want as far as quality. If you want better quality of sound, then in most cases it will cost more. If your just after an improvement in the stock system, then pretty much anything is better than stock.

There is no difference performance wise between Single voice coil and dual voice coils. The only thing they allow for is to wire the woofer at different impedences dual voice coils are usually more popular because there is more wiring options. Check around the for sale boards they sometimes have complete sub setups, amp and woofer for good deals if you want to go that way. Also I think there are a few members on this board that are from that area they maybe able to help you out with an audio system if you dont wanna go through circuit city.
